Road Home (The Survivalist)
★★★ The Survivalist is "a cool cross between Justified and The Walking Dead." ★★★
★★★ Check out Dr. Bradley's new apocalyptic western, "The Watchman." ★★★
Following the tragic death of his deceitful lover, Mason hopes to return to the one place where a peaceful life might still be possible. Detouring to recover a hidden treasure of gold, he meets a beautiful widow in trouble. Together, they travel to her hometown of Clover, South Carolina, an idyllic community protected by a police chief and his faithful deputies. Caught in the middle of a plot driven by greed and lust, Mason soon discovers that carrying a king’s ransom is not without its risks.
Meanwhile, Issa and Mother must find their way out of the tunnels under Mount Weather. Pregnant and without supplies, Issa is forced to use her wits and trusty Merkel rifle to keep them alive. As they push deeper into the darkness, they uncover a horror that traces back to the earliest days of Mother’s rule. They quickly realize that their only hope for escape is to trust one another, even if it means taking an unthinkable risk.
With two nuclear warheads in their possession, Tanner and Samantha embark on their journey back to Mount Weather. Along the way, they encounter a bounty hunter in search of his next job. Agreeing to transport him to a place known only as “Sanctuary,” they discover a community built around the unlikeliest of currencies. With evil threatening to tear them apart, they must once again stand together if they are to have any hope of returning home.

The best series you will ever read - Survivalist Series
I purchased the last book yesterday and didn't put it down until I finished it tonight (except to sleep last night). Thank you for giving us this series and bringing these characters to life for each of us. I feel like I know them personally and enjoyed how this talented author wrapped up each persons story, yet am saddened that the series has ended. This author is the only writer (and I have read hundreds of books the last few years) that was able to pull me in and literally not let go. His style of writing is the very best I have ever read. Each character in the series are strong, committed, loyal, and often times funny. Love Tanner and Samantha's banter, comraderies, journey and Mason and Bowies journey. I truly hope he continues to write and I hope to read a new series by him some day soon. Thank you Arthur T Bradley again for taking me and your readers into the survivalist series and giving us what I feel is the very best story I have ever read.
Great book. Great series. Sad to see it end.
This has been a fun series to read over the passed several years. Starting out as a zombie survival series and turning into something much more interesting with strange creatures, fun and sometimes outlandish adventures, and heroes fighting disreputable villains along the way. And as Dr. Bradley says in his parting comments, the series is about family. Not just your “blood,” but who you bring into your family, and what you would do for them when the chips are down. Certainly sorry to see the series end, but then all good things must, in fact, come to an end. And Dr. Bradley gave these characters a fine send off. Highly recommended from beginning to end.
Tied Up Loose Ends
I enjoyed this latest installment very much, especially the way it tied up loose ends but didn't let human nature off the hook. Plenty of drama and surprise in this book too. Tanner (the father figure, real and adopted) was my favorite in this book. I love the way he allowed his adopted/rescued daughter Samantha to lead him to do so many good deeds for others when he was under pressure to get back to his wife. His character really evolved in some ways over the course of the series but never lost the brutal edge that protected them through all the books. Samantha is my favorite overall in the series. She is remarkable and Dr. Bradley writes her beautifully and authentically. I do wish we'd seen more of Marshall Raines and Tanner together but, realistically, parents and children go their own ways in life all the time. The characters are so well-developed that the reader can imagine many futures for them, separate and apart.
Fitting Conclusion to an Epic Saga
“Road Home” provides closure to the epic Survivalist series, and I will miss the characters. I quickly became hooked on this series of plausible post-apocalyptic novels after reading the first in the series, “Frontier Justice.” Dr. Bradley has written an insightful series that provides valuable information for life in general as well as being prepared for a crisis. Having served a combat tour in Vietnam, I could relate to the observations and experiences of Deputy Mason Raines who is a true American hero. In fact, I thoroughly enjoy how well Dr. Bradley has developed each of the main and side characters. The author is extremely knowledgeable about weapons, equipment, and survival skills. As in all his books, there is a lot of action, and the protagonists have to make gut-wrenching decisions. I have only one negative comment: I was extremely disappointed at the author’s inclusion of the Davy Crockett rocket in the story. During my 30 years as a field artilleryman, I had two tours of duty with nuclear capable units. My first tour was with an Honest John battalion in Germany where we kept our nuclear warheads at a NATO storage site and routinely performed maintenance on them. After the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, safeguards were placed on all nuclear weapons to prevent their accidental or unauthorized use. One such safeguard included a Permissive Action Link (PAL) which was a locking device with a six-number combination which took members of the Red and Blue Teams to unlock. Each member only had three numbers of the combination. It would thus be impossible for anyone in this setting to successfully use these warheads. Also, the Davy Crockett was taken out of the Army inventory by 1970. The warheads would have been dismantled, and the propellant would have long since lost its potency. While I recognize “Road Home” is a work of fiction, the author should be realistic / accurate concerning actual weapons and their shelf life. As in his previous books, the author provides numerous eternal truths concerning devotion, family, and bonds of love that we should all take to heart. I hope that the author will give serious thought to writing a sequel set five or more years in the future.
Best of the best!
I have waited for this one for what seems like a long time. LOVE the survivalist series - great writing, excellent editing and a story line that keeps you jumping! This author is not to be missed. My only problem is that this is the end of this series so hopefully he's hatching up something equally great for the next time around. His ability to develop characters is unmatched in my opinion - from the big tough guy cop to the really tough guy ex con to a troubled but fascinating 12 year old girl (going on 35) is beyond compare. Keep em coming!
So great reading and Learning
I am an avid reader and lately it has been about survivalism. I learned so much and really could not stop reading. Actually this is the second time reading this series. The first it was not all available. So I reread and completed it. Fun, funny in lots of places, scary, realist, fantastical (I hope) in others and romantic. Reading at its finest as nothing was left out. Really recommend it. Also my history is that of teaching emergency preparedness. I learned in these books and you can too! No one can ever be to prepared. If you lock your doors at night, buy life, health or auto insurance you should also be prepared for at least the most common emergency in America which is a home fire. Can you walk away from your home for months and have the basics of what you need? Then you are not prepared! An EMP is a very likely scenario and could put areas or even the country or the world back into the 18th century like this story. How well would you do in that scenario? So read enjoy, think, and prepare!!!
Entertaining
Hands down one of the best apocalyptic survival series i have ever read. It has a real light hearted twist yet keeps you turning pages, all while being very educational and informative. Very entertaining đ. I have a Kindle library of over a hundred different survival/ apocalyptic books, and this is by far one of my favorites so far. I wish it wasn't ending I would love to hear more stories about Samantha and Rowan. Not to mention more stories of Mason and bowie. Thanks for the great stories.
Action thriller
Dear Authur, this series was very well written and had many adventures and thrills. Sometimes it felt that I was in the book while reading. This was very good feeling for most books have many pages that are fillers and could be left out. This set of books every page was needed to help view the action for that I am very 5hankfol. Sad in a way for the adventure is over but family comes first you showed that and with family determination you can do anything. I recommend the series of books to action readers for they will be hooked and glued to the end. The books were hard to put down and stop reading so be prepared. I can only say that thanks to your books iy brought joy to the nights that I could not sleep. I will read other books but you and hope to be entertaining and these. Anyone reading these please read a few pages before you so no. For I hope you will like this series as much as I have.
Excellent series
This was the first "prepper", or post-apocalyptic series I started and I waited with bated breath for each book to come out. Now that it's over I'm sad... Dr Bradley did an incredible job creating fun and unique characters and storylines in each installment. Interspersed throughout the story are real-life tips and tricks for urban survival, recommendations for equipment, and other useful tidbits. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you like a book that will make you laugh, cry, sometimes think, but mostly just entertain the hell out of you! I hope Dr Bradley plans to write more fiction, as he has a lifelong fan in me.
The Survivalist Series
5 stars for a story that has kept me and several friends and family members entertained for well over 2 years! Mr.Bradley has a unique ability to weave humor and hope into seemingly hopeless situations. The characters are superb, believable, and quick with a gun or a joke, whichever the situation calls for! By far the most "upbeat" post apocalyptic novels I have read. The series was especially enjoyable to me as I am more than familiar with Boone, NC , Roanoke, Va, D.C. and most points in between which is where a lot of the story takes place. But you certainly don't have to be to enjoy the story. The best indicator of a truly classic story is, "I hate to see it end!" Get these books! You won't be disappointed!
