You might see this as an exercise in futility because, as far as youre concerned, if you were able to change what needs changing, then you would have done so long ago. However, you might be unaware of how resigned youve become to a situation or arrangement that you have the ability to change. The first step involves seeing clearly what you want to alter. The second step involves believing you can change it. Then, see what changes with a combination of faith with effort. Great bits but must be used properly.
I’d like to start by saying, I only purchased these to be used for a one off project that I needed to drill about 10 holes in 18 gauge stainless steel on kegs. There are couple of reviews on here about them being unable to drill through stainless and the bits were ruined when used on a keg. But after using these bits “the proper way” they will drill like higher end step drill bits. Drill a pilot hole, use a slower drill speed, cooling oil and firm pressure these will drill through almost anything and will last. I have made 10 holes in 304L stainless varying from 7/8” to 1-1/4” and bits are still in great shape.

great buy
I didn't want to spend my hard earned money on multiple $50 unibits and after a quick look online i came across this set. I decided to just try them based on the reviews, and after a year later these bits are still going VERY strong. Im honestly stunned how great these are. As an electrician i have to unibit holes almost daily, and these bits do it all from pvc boxes to 30x30 metal junction boxes to panels. These have everything ive wanted and then some. I tell everybody on the job who are looking for new bits about this set because they are amazing. Will definitely buy again if i ever need to.

My husband loved it, and was excited I bought him "decent" drill bits!
I know very little about tools. In fact, I know pretty much nothing. What I do know is that my husband was absolutely thrilled to receive this as a Christmas gift. I can't give you the fancy technical details of this drill bit set, or explain what all they do....my husband attempted to explain it to me, but I don't understand too speak. What I do understand is that for the price of this set, this is a fantastic deal. He was very impressed with the quality of the drill bits and the variety that came with the set. It comes in a really nice case so you can keep them neat and organized and my husband is a bit of a control freak, so this was a big plus for him. So based on his excitement, I would definitely recommend this set! **I paid full price for this item!

... step drills are well made and come in a nice aluminum storage case
These step drills are well made and come in a nice aluminum storage case. I used one of the step drill to enlarge holes in a piece of 15 gauge galvanized angle that I use to hold my screwdrivers. The step bit bored through this metal very quickly with absolutely no problems. The bored hole was perfectly round with only slight burrs on the outlet side of the hole (expected). I would recommend.

and hardness and am pleased to report these have held up better than expected
I've drilled through a whole bunch of different metal with varying thickness, and hardness and am pleased to report these have held up better than expected! Theyre still sharp after a few months, and a bunch of projects.

Neiko 10197A titanium step drill Bit Set in an aluminum, padded case
Very nice set, will work great on just about anything except stainless steel-which I knew when I bought it. I was willing to spend the money for a one time project that required drilling 1 1/4 inch holes into stainless steel knowing that the bit would only last through a couple of holes. The metal case the drills came in is also top notch.

For casual use- perfect
Ok if you are going to use these every day in hard-use, industrial applications, I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t work for you. (I’ve been there). For casual, sporadic residential use, these bits are awesome. Once you use a step bit you’ll wonder what you ever did without them, and you’ll rarely use a small hole saw again.

They're not the bee's knees of step bits, but ...
They're not the bee's knees of step bits, but you won't beat them for the price. If you're a residential electrician who has to make the occasional modification to a box and you have no step bits... these are more than enough. If you're a commercial electrician who debates sending a particular common used metal box to a metal fab, in bulk, for a common punch out modification but wonders if a step bit will get you by, you 'might' want to try these, but one of those seemingly expensive sets might be more in order for remedying an issue in the field. Though, if you're the latter and successful, you're not gonna quible over price, are ya?

An excellent alternative to getting 1 bit for twice the price!
I went by a local brick and mortar store to buy a replacement for my worn out popular brand step bit and was amazed to find they wanted over $50 for 1 bit. I hopped on Amazon on my smartphone and found this set. Based on reviews I ordered it on the spot. It arrived 2 days later via Prime and I am extremely happy! They appear to be very good quality and even come with a case. I have used 2 of the bits (largest and smallest) and they worked extremely well. They are perfect for enlarging existing holes and for chamfering holes (that's the main thing I use them for). Unlike a normal bit you get a very smooth hole on the top side with these bits because the next 'step' champfers the rim of the hole. This function and the size choices make them very convenient for running wires/cables through metal top caps since you can adjust the size of the hole to the size of the cable bundle without switching bits and the hole will be smooth and snag free. For what I do with them there is zero reason to spend twice the money for 1 of the popular brand bits. I know what my dad is getting for fathers day!

Useful and high quality.
I bought these to drill a 5/8 inch hole for the hitch pin in my trailer receiver tube because the existing hole kept the ball too far from the hitch to allow my safety chains to attach. I used plenty of oil and was able to easily drill 2 holes through the 1/8 inch steel of the tube. The drill bit that I used did not seem to be dulled and upon inspection appeared to be as good as new when I was done. I don't know why I never bought a set of these before--I would have used them if I had them.
